Al-Maghtas is an archaeological site in Jordan on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, officially known as the baptismal site 'Bethany Beyond the Jordan' (Al-Maghtas). The site is considered the original site of Jesus' baptism. Al-Maghtas was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
