Hiking
The sandy soil here is very poor in nutrients. This created a unique natural area in the Upper Rhine Graben for many species of birds, butterflies and flowering plants. Designated as a nature reserve since 2010.

Cycling
It began in 1820 as a parade ground.
Airships moored here and you could travel line into the "world". After the end of World War II, the US Army was stationed here until 1995. The area is now a nature reserve and an Eldorado for butterflies.
