Mountain biking

I do not know all that well yet. But I advise to take a bike map or plan the tour with Komoot best. The Haard is very tall and often very sandy. One should avoid these usually sandy riding trails and look best on the internet where the riding trails run. Unfortunately, this fact is not in the Komoot maps with maintained. If you were often in the Haard you know where the riders have their way. My route from 1.May 2018 only crosses equestrian trails!

Mountain biking

Meanwhile, I use OSM (Open Street Map) maps in Basecamp for Garmin. There riding trails are displayed when you move the mouse over the different lines. The then created GPX route can then be saved and imported into Komoot!

Mountain biking

There are still some fallen trees from the storm in January 2018, but the landscape of the forest is very varied and many fallen trees can be avoided by skilled mountain bikers. Many singletrack branches off and wait to be explored. The Haard on the northern edge of the Ruhr area or on the south of the Münsterland in NRW is very nice for mountain biking. At Stimberg it takes a lot of driving skills and a high level of fitness. This route is not working !! over riding trails or through deep sand!
