The part of the Bucher Landgraben bordering the airport to the south was renatured from 2001 to 2008 as an ecological compensation measure as part of the development plan. In addition to relocating the old land ditch into a natural, meandering stream course, rainwater retention basins, several viewing platforms and bridges were built. The green zone covers 14 hectares. Approximately 3000 trees and bushes were planted, and cycle paths and footpaths were created. The Landgraben flows up from brick and is still called Hirschsprunggraben there. It flows west through the middle of the suburb of Buch
