Cycling

The Peterwald in Ternitz was declared a natural monument in April 1978 due to its dominant location and the unique nature of the black pine forest that grows there. This declaration was amended in June 2002. Since then, the forest island of Peterwald has been divided into a 34,474 square meter core area with its approximately 250 year old black pines and a 186,531 square meter remaining area with younger pines and deciduous trees. The Schwarzatal cycle path forms the southern border of the natural monument.
