In the southeast corner of the park is the artificial ruin of a vaulted room with the statue of the reclining spring nymph Egeria, who, according to Roman mythology, advised the early Roman king Numa Pompilius and helped him to establish a wise government. The model is the ancient nymphaeum of Egeria on the Via Appia near the Porta Capena in Rome, which was a popular excursion destination in the 18th and 19th centuries.
