The last five sisters of the Maria der Engel Appenzell monastery have given the monastery buildings to a foundation under the supervision of the Bishop of St. Gallen with the aim of handing over the buildings - if possible - to a community under ecclesiastical law, so that church and monastery have one place remain of silence and prayer.
