The Klautzkesee is the largest of a series of stagnant waters in the reserve. The lakes and the surrounding forest were not accessible during the GDR. The area was designated as a state hunting area for high SED politicians and therefore has preserved an incomparable biodiversity to this day.

The nature reserve Klautzkesee and Waldmoore with Kobbelke lies in the area of the communities Schlaubetal and Neuzelle in the district of Oder-Spree.
The area with the identification number 1414 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of May 26, 2004. The 382.5 hectare nature reserve with the 6.5 hectare Klautzkesee extends east of Kieselwitz.
