This impressive, movable bascule bridge spans the deep Boudewijn Canal and forms the gateway between the port of Zeebrugge and the tranquil polders of Dudzele. It's the perfect spot to take a break, admire the inland vessels passing by, or enjoy a drink at the terrace of the well-known brasserie right next to the bridge. A vibrant piece of Bruges' harbour infrastructure!

The metal bascule bridge was built in 1996 as a replacement for the swing bridge from 1906 and consists of three spans: two fixed side spans and a movable center span. The Herdersbrug is part of the N348, an important access road to the port of Bruges-Zeebrugge, for traffic from the N31 from Bruges and Kortrijk.
