In 1965, the sculptor Wander Bertoni purchased a watermill in Winden am See, at the foot of the Leitha Mountains. On old cultural land (Roman villa, discovery of the oldest wine press on Austrian territory - second half of 200 AD) an art site of a very special kind and unique in Europe was created.

In the Wander Bertoni open-air museum, numerous large sculptures by the artist can be viewed in the open air all year round.

Hiking

Part of the Windener Bach has been preserved in its original form with ancient willow trees along the former Gritdchmühle. Since the open-air museum with sculpture park of the recently deceased sculptor Professor Wander Bertoni is located in the Gritschmühle, a visit is of double interest.
