Hiking
Chillon Castle, near Montreux, dates from the 13th century and was built by the Savoie family on a rocky islet in Lake Geneva, backed by a steep slope covered in forests, to control the passage along Lake Geneva. It also served as an arsenal, a prison and, temporarily, the residence of the counts of Savoy.
