In the background you can already see the Moiry Glacier in its full size, gliding over several steep steps into the valley. A magnificent serac zone with fissures has formed above each escarpment and high, multi-tiered lateral moraines can be seen on both sides. The melt flow that feeds the Lac de Moiry rises from the glacier tongue. Several jagged rocky peaks rise out of the ice sheet of the glacier and the Grand Cornier towers over the whole with its 3,960 m. (Source: Wikinger Reisen)
