The Kersten Pavilion on the southeast slope of the Lousberg was originally built in 1740 by Johann Joseph Couven as a garden house. In 1905, it was saved from demolition by the city of Aachen and relocated to its current location. With its Baroque architecture, open staircase, decorative railings, and wall fountain bowl, it is one of the few remaining Couven garden houses in Aachen. Today, the pavilion is managed by the Lousberg Society and serves as a venue for cultural events and exhibitions.

Hiking

The "Kerstensche Pavilion" was originally a garden house on the Annuntiatenbach in the center of Aachen. The pavilion was moved here in 1905-1907 and so the building, which goes back to the city master builder Johann Josef Couven (1701-1763), was preserved. Today one might think that it has always stood here or that it was built for exactly this spot on the slope of the Lousberg.
