The church was built in the 11th or 12th century. At the beginning it was a fief of the abbey of Monteverdi.
Inside it was recently found a bronze crucifix dating back to the 12th or 13th century and considered to be of great value. On the crucifix there is an engraving representing the Virgin, St. John, the Angel and the Sepulcher
