Approaches to Rossett Pike invariably begin in Great Langdale, where there are plenty of amenities. The usual ascent is via the path up Mickleden, once thought to be a pony track for smuggling illicit goods to Ravenglass. Just a stone’s throw to the west of the Pike is beautiful Angle Tarn, a large circular pool and popular beauty spot.
The manner in which Rossett Pike’s summit overlooks Great Langdale makes it a great vantage for gazing towards the Langdale Pikes, while the bulk of mighty Bowfell’s northern cliffs dominate matters to the southwest.
