Chapel of St. Sebastian, Sargans
The "plague saint" St. Sebastian as patron points out that the construction of the chapel was a consequence of the then rampant plague. In the second half of the 15th century our area was badly affected by this epidemic.
The building, built in 1502, was supplemented with a tower in 1718/19. Until then, the bells were set in the west wall above the portal. In 1736 it was made Baroque with an altar made of “Sargans marble”. The restoration of 1984/85 gave the chapel its current appearance.
