Interesting sculpture by Alexander Calder, which was the first to be erected with funds from the federal "Percent for Art" program. The sculpture reminds me more of the Triffids from the 1951 novel of the same name by John Wyndham, but that's culture too. With its typical red color, the sculpture stands out wonderfully against the black background of the surrounding skyscrapers.

This bright red sculpture, made of steel and standing 16 meters tall, was unveiled in 1974 on Federal Plaza, directly in front of the Kluczynski Federal Building. It is a so-called stabileโan abstract, stationary sculptureโand a beautiful example of Calder's unique style.
