Embark on a moderate hike through the Otmoor RSPB Reserve, a peaceful journey spanning 6.5 miles (10.5 km). You will gain a gentle 24 feet (7 metres) in elevation, taking about 2 hours and 38 minutes to complete. The route winds through tranquil wetlands, open grasslands, and pockets of woodland, offering a chance to immerse yourself in nature. Keep an eye out for the historic 12th-century Beckley Church, a notable landmark along the way. From various birdwatching hides, like the Wetlands Watch Hide, you can observe the diverse birdlife that calls this reserve home.

Before you set out, be aware that paths can be uneven and may become wet and muddy, especially after rain, so wear appropriate waterproof footwear. You will encounter several kissing gates around the reserve, which are easy to navigate. If you plan to bring your dog, please check local signage as they are not permitted in certain sections of the nature reserve to protect wildlife. This ensures a pleasant experience for all visitors and the resident birds.

The Otmoor RSPB Reserve is renowned for its rich biodiversity and serves as a vital habitat for numerous bird species. The expansive floodplain grazing marsh provides wide-open views across water meadows, creating a unique landscape. This area is particularly significant for its conservation efforts, offering a glimpse into a thriving wetland ecosystem. It is a perfect escape for nature lovers seeking a quiet connection with the natural world.
