It is as if the time Lissewege can not harm. With its charming little canal, whitewashed polder houses and vast fields, it is characteristic of what all Flemish villages once looked like. The brick church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a typical example of the "Coastal Gothic". Those who take the trouble to climb the 264 steps of the blunt tower will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the polders as far as Ostend and Bruges.

The impressive brick church from the 13th century, built in early Gothic style, was named Our Lady of the Visitation Church. The church has a remarkable interior including an impressive organ case, famous paintings and a centuries-old pulpit. The church can be visited free of charge every day from 10 am to 4 pm (until 6 pm in the summer months).

Climb the 264 steps of the church and enjoy a unique panorama while floating about 50 meters above the ground!

Cycling
Lissewege, the white city, is a place where mainly artists have settled. Lissewege still belongs - like Zeebrugge - to the city of Bruges. The Tower of Onze-Lieve-Vrouwkerk impresses from afar. The church belongs to the Scheldegotik, a regional early Gothic transitional style from Romanesque to Gothic in the coastal area of Flanders.
