There's nothing else like it on the island, and it's well worth a detour and a brief pause: the horse cemetery near Boldevitz. Here lie the four-legged companions of the von der Lancken family. The gravestones, some with very weathered inscriptions, stand at the foot of a magnificent pedunculate oak. The adjacent information panel states the age of this "natural monument, the mother oak," at 400 to 500 years.
