Bourtange (Gronings: Boertange) is a fortified village in the province of Groningen, which was built during the Dutch Revolt in 1580. Bourtange is located in the municipality of Westerwolde, in the region of the same name. It is a protected village view. From the outer wall you have a nice view of the surroundings (against which Bourtange had to be defended) and you become curious about Bourtange itself. You regularly get a nice view of the city from the outer wall.
