Hiking

The Christian worldview caused the citizens of Lügde great problems with National Socialism. The Nazis became aware of the historic Easter Wheel Race in 1933. Their plan was to exploit the spectacle for their own purposes and de-Christianize it. In 1935, courageous Lügde residents erected a ten-meter-high white wooden cross at the Easter Wheel race finish line as a protest. The cross was later replaced with an iron one.
