The Abraham shaft was the main shaft of the Assumption mine until the middle of the 19th century.
In 1828 a previously unknown ore was found at a depth of about 250m, which was called Neue Hope Flacher. The corridors there led to such rich ore that the Assumption Treasure trove was soon one of the richest mines in the district and a decisive economic upswing of the Ascension Treasury mine took place.
