The bridge figure of the sheep washer is reminiscent of sheep farming in earlier times. Before the bridge was built, there was a ford here, which also served as a sheep washing point. The Wiesent was bordered with tree trunks so that the animals could not break out. The name Gries comes from Old High German and stands for sand, gravel.
