This piece of Rur was straightened at some point. The weir and the numerous oxbow lakes, mostly on the right-hand side, attest to this. These oxbow lakes and the floodplain landscapes are an excellent habitat for many animals, including beavers. As a child (at 15) I drove here with the rubber dinghy and got a lot of leeches when getting in and out. The place is just gorgeous. TIP: In front of the bridge, a path turns left, over a small bridge. Here, pure nature is announced and you get deeper into the nature reserve.
