"In the Middle Ages, an abbot from Nossen came to visit his colleague in the Grünhain monastery and was given a rich gift. As he rode home along the iron path, he was attacked and killed by a nasty fellow because of the things he was carrying. The murderer was caught and brought to justice. To atone for this murder, a wooden cross was erected at this spot, which was exchanged for an iron cross by the Ore Mountains Association after the First World War."
