Hiking
There used to be large moors in the area. Sheep kept the heather from becoming overgrown with grass and trees. At that time there were many sheepfolds in De Peel. Most of them have been lost. However, one has been rebuilt in the Mariapeel. This is Pauls Koije, from around 1800. The sheep have been replaced by Dutch land goats. These goats are very helpful in keeping the peel landscape open.
