The Zochegraben or the Zoche is a flowing body of water in the Barnim east of Berlin, which flows into the Erpe at the horse racing track Hoppegarten, a tributary of the Spree.

The light shafts are all at the point where there used to be several platforms in Hoppegarten to cope with the high number of visitors on race days, just like the platforms at the Olympic Stadium during the 1936 Olympics. During the GDR era, track construction material was stored there.

Hiking

The Zochetunnel is a pedestrian tunnel and connects the OT Birkenstein with the community of Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten. It was probably created at the beginning of the 1920s. Birkenstein was founded in 1919 and a short time later it was connected to the community and the Hoppegarten (Mark) train station via this tunnel.
