In 1927 the master miller Alfred Demuth bought the lower mill, which was rebuilt in 1898. This mill continued to work for bakeries and farmers. In 1979 the permanently privately run mill was shut down. Commercial accommodation was set up in the building.

In 1176 there is evidence of a watermill on the Orlafurt. 1447 on the lower mill. At that time she was already licensed. Originally it belonged to the nobles of Eichenberg. The tavern belonged to the mill until 1830. For centuries, two undershot water wheels, one behind the other, served to drive the flour mill. After 1868 a third was added to operate a sawmill with a horizontal gate. A threshing set was operated with it until 1908.
