The Wintersdorfer Altrhein is popularly known as the "Old Sandbach Estuary". Before the Sandbach (the former Ried residents said: "The Sandbach".) Was diverted at Iffezheim in 1934, it flowed into the Rhine here.

This is where the Sandbach flows into the Rhine. Very nice corner. The roads here are quite easy to drive. The one along the Rhine used to be "paved" with pebbles, which wasn't fun. Most of the stones are gone though.

The place here at the estuary is great. And the one-way street signs for recreational captains (?) Are funny.
The path from here along the Rhine is paved with coarse gravel because of the regular flooding. It is relatively exhausting to drive.
