There are plenty of ways to approach Moel Gyw. The Offa’s Dyke long-distance trail skirts the summit to the west, though a path leaves this to seek out the top. The main path could be used to extend your adventure on to other summits, including the iconic Moel Famau to the north.
The Clwydian Range is noted for its vibrant wildlife, with predators like red kites and red foxes on the hunt for rabbits and voles. Late summer and autumn are gorgeous here, when the heather is at its most colourful.
The charming market town of Ruthin has a number of good accommodation options, as well as venues for post-hike refreshment. You may also find lodging in the village of Llanarmon-yn-lâl.
