You will encounter diverse terrain, from unpaved carriage roads with exposed tree roots to rocky sections featuring impressive granite outcroppings. As you jog, enjoy picturesque views of Leach Pond and Puds Pond, often alongside meadows where you might spot local wildlife. The route also takes you through serene hemlock woods and white pine groves, offering a visually engaging journey. With an elevation gain of 268 feet (82 metres), this loop typically takes around 1 hour and 38 minutes to complete.

The Granite Hills & Pond Walk Trail loop is situated within Borderland State Park, which is generally accessible for visitors. While the overall route is considered moderate, be aware that the Granite Hills section introduces more challenging elements due to its rugged and rocky nature. You should be prepared for varied surfaces and some ledges along this part of the trail. Plan your visit during daylight hours to fully appreciate the scenery and navigate the terrain safely.

This trail is notable for its unique geological features, including glacial erratics scattered throughout the landscape, remnants from ancient ice sheets. The varied ecosystems you pass through, from pond edges to dense woodlands, support a rich diversity of flora and fauna, making it a prime spot for nature observation. Keep an eye out for bluebirds and waterfowl in the meadows and near the ponds, adding to the natural charm of your jog.
