Bust of Eduard van de Griendt
Founder and namesake of the village Eduard van de Griendt (1857-1935) is immortalized in bronze and looks proudly in the direction of where the peat extraction took place. The statue was placed in 2010 (in honor of Griendtsveen's 125th birthday) and was made by JeanMarianne Bremers.
Eduard van de Griendt was one of Jan van de Griendt's sons and founded the Griendtsveen colony together with his brother Jozef around 1885. The entire village was owned by the family and was inhabited by peat cutters and other employees of the Firma van de Griendt.
