There are many places from which you have a great view of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but I find the view of the medieval town, with its unique silhouette and towers, most beautiful from the Tauber Valley or from Engelsburg Castle.

From here you have a wonderful view of the western part of Rothenburg. From the castle garden to the "Riviera", Kobolzeller Tor and the Spitaltor you can see churches, towers and parts of the city wall of the former free imperial city of Rothenburg and you now know where the addition "ob der Tauber" in the name comes from.
