The SS special camp Hinzert (also Hinzert concentration camp) was a German detention and concentration camp near Hinzert near Trier in the Hunsrück (today Rhineland-Palatinate). It existed with changing assignments from 1939 to early March 1945.

The SS special camp / concentration camp Hinzert existed from 1939 to 1945. It was originally set up as a police detention camp, then as a “work education camp” for workers from the Todt Organization (OT) who had committed Nazi crimes on the Siegfried Line. During the Second World War it developed into a concentration camp for deportees from numerous countries occupied by the Wehrmacht. A total of around 10,000 men in the camp suffered from the terror of the SS in the six years of existence.
