The Eschbachtalsperre is a "pioneer" dam: It is the first drinking water dam in Germany and the oldest in North Rhine-Westphalia. Today it is used as an emergency supply for the city of Remscheid, for ecological management, as flood protection and to raise low water levels.

Beautiful, very old dam. A tour is highly recommended. The forest path remains on a level and is very easy to drive on, almost like asphalt.

Here you can quickly turn a nice little round, if you get tired on the A1 motorway and leaves the Rasthof Remscheid - right next to the hotel and service area is the beautiful Eschbachtalsperre.
