Hiking

Just behind the canal dike deep between the deciduous trees is Bunker n° 3065. This bunker located at Den Diel was part of the advanced defense line Antwerp WW2. Bats are now lord and master in this armored complex. Still, it's worth pausing for a moment.

Around 1935, bunkers were built in strategic places along the canal, which functioned as an anti-tank ditch, by the Belgian army and manned by soldiers from the Camp of Beverlo. These bunkers were part of the most advanced defense ring in Antwerp during WWII.
