Embark on the Monte Corno – loop from Lago di Ledro, a difficult hike that challenges you with a strenuous ascent. This 9.2-mile (14.9 km) route, with its significant 3361 feet (1024 metres) of elevation gain, typically takes around 6 hours and 29 minutes to complete. You'll start near the lake on a cycle path before transitioning to marked hiking trails, winding through dense forested slopes and rocky sections. As you climb, you'll pass the ancient hermitage of San Martino, a charming landmark along the way. Be prepared for varied terrain, including equipped sections with safety ropes and artificial steps between Monte Corno and Cima Pubreng, making proper hiking boots essential for sure-footedness.

To tackle this demanding trail, you should have excellent fitness and appropriate mountain footwear. While some describe it as medium difficulty, the considerable elevation gain requires good breath and endurance. The route is well-marked, following SAT 456 and SAT 456b, guiding you through its diverse landscapes. Ensure you are well-prepared for a long day on the trails, carrying enough water and provisions for the duration.

This loop is a top favorite among local mountaineers, celebrated for offering what many consider the best view of Lake Ledro from above. Monte Corno is affectionately known as "the balcony above Lake Ledro" due to its unparalleled vistas. From the summit, you can admire the entire Valle di Ledro, Lake Ledro, and even distant views of the Dolomites and Lake Garda. The trail also holds historical significance, with remnants of a World War I military observation post found on nearby Cima Casèt, adding a layer of history to your challenging adventure.

Embark on the Ledro Land Art and Chiesa di San Martino – loop tour, a moderate hike covering 8.2 miles (13.2 km) with an elevation gain of 2278 feet (694 metres). This journey, typically taking about 4 hours and 56 minutes, leads you through dense forests and lush meadows. You will discover the unique Ledro Land Art park, where site-specific installations like 'enamored trees' and 'metal snails' are integrated into the Pur pine forest. The route then ascends towards the Chiesa di San Martino, offering magnificent views of Lake Ledro and the surrounding peaks.

While the Ledro Land Art section is generally flat and accessible, even suitable for baby carriages, be prepared for a more challenging ascent to Chiesa di San Martino. This final stretch can be steep and requires good fitness and sure-footedness. The Ledro Land Art area provides convenient amenities, including an info point, a shop, a bar, and picnic facilities at Malga Cita, making it a great spot for a break.

This loop trail stands out for its blend of art and nature, offering a diverse experience from gentle art exploration to a rewarding mountain climb. The Ledro Valley itself is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its rich biodiversity and stunning alpine landscapes. The panoramic views from Chiesa di San Martino are a highlight, providing excellent opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the region.
