Embark on the easy Soledad Canyon loop, a hiking route that takes you through diverse landscapes in the western foothills of the Organ Mountains. This 3.1-mile (5.0 km) trail offers a gentle climb of 567 feet (173 metres), making it a perfect outing for about 1 hour and 29 minutes. As you hike, you will discover gravel paths giving way to narrower trails, leading you towards a potential waterfall. Enjoy expansive views of the central Organ Mountains with their distinctive jagged peaks, and look out over the southern Mesilla Valley. The route is rich in botanical diversity, featuring various cacti and wildflowers, particularly vibrant after a good rain.

The Soledad Canyon loop is conveniently located within the easily accessible Soledad Canyon Day Use Area, making it an ideal day hike if you are visiting from Las Cruces. You will find parking generally available right at the trailhead, allowing for a hassle-free start to your adventure. Before heading out, always remember to check the local conditions, especially regarding the weather, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Beyond its scenic beauty, the trail offers glimpses into the area's past, as you will pass by historical ruins along the way. Keep an eye out for wildlife; mule deer are often seen grazing within the canyon, adding to the natural charm of the route. This popular trail provides a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique environment of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument.
