The Simultaneum mixtum existed in Goldenstedt since 1650, with Catholics and Protestants celebrating their services together in what was then the simultaneous church of St. Gorgonius. Construction of the Martin Luther Church began in 1847 according to plans by the Oldenburg architect Hero Dietrich Hillerns. After its inauguration in 1850, the Simultaneum ended.[1][2]
