Planning your trip to Relay Peak is best done between July and October to avoid snow patches and enjoy the full bloom of wildflowers. While the trail is generally well-marked, be prepared for a steady ascent and ensure you carry plenty of water. Parking is usually available near the trailheads, but arriving earlier in the day is always a good idea, especially on weekends, to secure a spot.
Relay Peak holds a special distinction as the highest point on the entire 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail, reaching an elevation of 10,338 feet. This makes it a notable alternative to the often-crowded Mount Rose for similar, stunning vistas.
