Backbone Trailhead – Zuma and Trancas Canyons

Embark on a challenging hike along the Backbone Trail: Tapia to Kanan-Dume, a difficult route that spans 11.7 miles (18.9 km) through the Santa Monica Mountains. You will gain 2542 feet (775 metres) in elevation, taking approximately 5 hours and 48 minutes to complete. Dogs are welcome on this part of the Backbone Trail, provided they are kept on a leash, as it falls within National Park Service regulations.
