Built in the 1840s to supply water and irrigate the park, it even had enough money to build a fountain system. A 40-meter-high fountain shot out of the Havel River like a geyser. During the Cold War, the Berlin Wall ran directly next to the building. As a result, the building fell into disrepair in the border area, but today it can be visited again in good condition.

The steam engine house was built in the years 1843-1845 by Rudolf Gottgetreu according to plans by Ludwig Persius for the irrigation systems of the Park Babelsberg. The engine house is a two-storey, neo-Gothic brick building in the castle style with tin-cinnamon tower (the chimney) and Esse. In addition, a cavalier room was set up inside.
