Hiking
The area around Claremont was used for agricultural purposes in the 19th century. Since the late 1830s, the current Claremont Conservation Area consisted of two farms. The water power of Duffins Creek was used to operate two mills: a grist mill and a sawmill. In 1929, a flood destroyed the dam; however, the grist mill was still standing when the site was acquired by the Conservation Authority (TRCA) in 1960.
The Pioneer Cabin, a log cabin in the north of the Conservation Area, is used today by the Claremont Nature Centre for educational purposes.
