Of course, tourists can access the bridge every day, 24 hours a 24. But, to visit the Vasari Corridor (currently the ordinary visits are suspended for safety checks), they must request to the Superintendentency a special opening for scholars.
The ticket includes an English guide and the access to Uffizi Gallery.

Today's stone bridge was built over a ten-year construction period between 1335 and 1345. Since the beginning, there have been small shops lined up side by side along the bridge without any gaps.

Originally, the bridge was mainly home to butchers and tanners. The butchers threw their smelly waste into the Arno, the tanners washed their fabrics, which had previously been tanned with horse urine. In 1565, however, these were replaced by goldsmiths by decree of Cosimos I de' Medici, as they did not produce waste.
