The bridge near Vorhop (municipality of Wittingen) is a prominent crossing point over the Elbe Lateral Canal (ESK). In the region, it is known primarily as an important connection point for farmers, commuters and day trippers. Since the Elbe Lateral Canal runs here in a wide, flat landscape, the bridge offers an excellent panoramic view over the course of the canal. Many "ship watchers" stop here briefly to watch the passing freighters.
