Kötteritzsch Castle in the Colditz district of Sermuth is an old manor house that was first mentioned in 1529. The former ancestral home of the von Kötteritzsch family was even mentioned for the first time in 933. The palace complex was built on a hill near the confluence of the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde.

Castle / manor Kötteritzsch or the castle of Sermuth appeared for the first time in a document (called Castle Kötteritzsch) and can be found in the Saxon Großbothen, in the 13th century. The Lords of Kötteritzsch had the building built.
It got its current appearance in 1882 and 1883, when it was rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style. After the expropriation in 1945, a children's home was housed there, and the building was also used by the LPG administration (agricultural production cooperative).
