One thing first. The many titles as a “chapel” are unfortunately incorrect. It is and has always been a "washhouse"! The misleading design, admittedly, is reminiscent of a church or hermit chapel. The Herkomer family built and used it as a washhouse since time immemorial. By the way, an information board on the wall explains in detail the benefits of the almost enchanted little house.
