The Hohnhorster water mill was first mentioned in a document in 1319. When the electric age began in Hohnhorst with the inventions of Werner von Siemens, the energy from the accumulated pools was also used to generate electricity.

Cycling

The small path "Mühlenmasch" runs between the village square and the main street and if you come from the church, you might almost think that the path is private. Perhaps you should get off your bike here and take a look at the mill with the pool, the moorland, the large and well-kept estate and their buildings, which was mentioned in 1319! It is definitely worth it.
The watermill is listed in the list of listed buildings in Lower Saxony.
