You will gain 323 feet (98 metres) in elevation, completing the route in about 1 hour and 24 minutes. As you hike, you will enjoy views of Tahoe Meadows and stunning vistas of Lake Tahoe. Your journey culminates at the impressive Galena Creek Falls, a fan-shaped waterfall cascading down red-rock slopes.
The trail begins at a high elevation, close to 9,000 feet, so be mindful of potential altitude sickness. While this route is 2.5 miles, you have the option to extend your adventure by connecting to the Tahoe Rim Trail. This allows for a longer journey, potentially reaching 4.5 to 5 miles round trip to the falls, or even a 6.5-mile loop. Plan your visit during the warmer months to experience the full bloom of the wildflowers and the robust flow of the falls.
